Group Meetings
Group Meetings
If your program requires smaller group meetings, you can create breakout rooms within Zoom meetings. Group size is particularly tricky to manage with large-scale programs. We recommend keeping group meetings as small as possible and utilizing the breakout functionality when discussions need to take place where you expect high levels of participation. Breakout groups can be assigned in advance. Zoom offers thorough instructions on how to enable and manage breakout sessions. Each breakout room should include at least one administrator to moderate the conversation and the technology.
Tech needed:
- Computer/mobile device & internet access for each participant
To host your group meeting, follow these steps:
- Schedule a unique meeting at the set time for each group that plans to meet.
- If you plan to run multiple large calls at once you’ll need to plan to have a few different Zoom accounts available. Zoom does not currently allow users to host multiple concurrent meetings. Here is an article that explores this topic in-depth: Can I Host Concurrent Meetings? If you plan to host one large call that uses breakout room, this should not become an issue.
- Assign moderation/co-host capabilities to whoever will be leading the meeting.
- Prepare in advance, particularly if you plan to use breakouts.
- Zoom gives users the ability to preset the breakout room options. This should help make the call as smooth as possible.
- Supply the link to all meeting participants.
- Create an event in your Wisr site and give your members access to the meeting link. This may be a community event or site wide depending on the audience you are looking to reach.
