Creating Exciting Communities

Making sure your communities are welcoming and inviting is one of the first steps you can take to make sure your members are engaged. Below we have some ideas and steps you can take to make your communities look exciting and engaging from the start!

For community leaders, you have the ability to change the header and edit a few aspects of the community as we go along - here's a quick recap of how to do that.

To change the header:

  1. Create a Community Photo for your community!
  2. Canva is a great, free resource
  3. Create a custom size of 1140 pixels (width) x 250 pixels (height)
  4. Make your header colorful and exciting (use photos below for inspiration)
  5. Export your photo as a PNG
  6. Click into your community and drag and drop the photo into the header space above the community name
  7. Adjust as needed, and click Save Community Photo 

Other updates you can do to make your community engaging:

  • Update the About section, by editing community settings and updating the description
  • Post a Discussion post (or
    • Icebreaker questions work well for this!
  • Add Events and Files as resources for members
