Customer Spotlight: Baldwin Wallace University Career Services

Led by Patrick Keebler, Director of Career Services, and Danielle Rueger, Assistant Director of Career Connections and Digital Engagement, BW is seeing great results!

Their hard work is paying off with over 50% of their site actively consuming messages, joining communities, and viewing discussions. We are proud to partner with the BW career services team and are excited to watch them keep delivering great outcomes during a most unusual school year.

How They're Doing It

Career Communities

Many schools have shifted their career services and support to a model based on industries instead of aligning strictly by majors or other academic units. Baldwin Wallace has focused their programming to deliver value to their students by grouping industries into Career Communities.

Using career communities to deliver expertise, Baldwin Wallace Career Services has arranged their students, alumni, faculty, and staff to connect through common goals, interests, and resources.

Unified Theme & Cohesive Site Brand

Using variations on a similar header image design, alumni and students see that these communities are visually part of the same program as they use the site.

Strategic Programming and Use of Content

Career Services has aligned their in-person and virtual programs with their Wisr site. Wisr serves as an extension of the career community programming and support that is currently being provided to students. Students continue to explore and experience on Wisr instead of using the site to navigate something entirely different from other programs.

Peer Career Advisors

The Career Services team has recruited Peer Career Advisors who serve as career champions on the site. These volunteers have a formal job description which includes:

  • Be a Career Communities Champion for at least one of the seven communities
  • Interacting in the Wisr community
  • Promote Career Community Meet-Up’s – virtual events where students can meet alumni and other professionals with careers related to that career community
  • Search for resources/job boards related to their career community and update the career community information as needed

The platform supports the University’s new strategic plan and its commitment to leadership by providing opportunities for alumni mentoring and career support and also in building lifelong relationships to the campus community.
